Toyota gives everyone the power to lead with the launch of the new Fortuner today. Since Fortuner’s first entry into the local market in 2005, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has already sold more than 220,000 units of this popular SUV. In 2017, the Fortuner was crowned the best-selling vehicle in the country. In August alone, the model dominated the midsize SUV category with more than 30% market share.
With the 2020 update, the Fortuner proves to be a formidable and reliable SUV, whether for the city or off-road. This is thanks to updates that make the driver feel more confident, prestigious and secure.
Leading with a new look
Leading the charge is its new variant, the LTD, which has a bold new look and plenty of new features. The look of the new Fortuner LTD is comprised of a two-tone trademark, distinguished by the black roof, custom-designed front and rear bumpers, and machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.
Light the way with LED split-type headlights and LED front fog lamps, sequential turn signals, and the redesigned LED taillights exclusive to LTD variants.
Options continued to be offered even for the Q and V variants. They have redesigned LED fog lamps and LED taillights, as well as two-beam LED headlights with LED line guidance that serve as daytime running lights. The G variants now also come with dual-beam LED headlights with LED DRLs.
Confidence, ease and control
Toyota makes it easy to start your journey with a smart entry and push-start system for the LTD, Q and V grades. Getting into the correct position is easy with the eight-way power-adjustable front seats for the driver and front passengers on the LTD and Q trims. The LTD even includes a front seat ventilation system.
In terms of entertainment and communication, the center console has a system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems in all variants. They’re paired with a nine-speaker JBL sound system in the LTD. While a wireless charger and rear USB chargers are installed in grades LTD, Q and V. Climate is controlled by front and rear automatic controls for grade V and above.
Power and efficiency
The 1GD-FTV (2.8-liter diesel) engine powers the new Fortuner LTD and Q variants, producing a maximum power of 201 hp (204 Ps) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The V and G variants have the 2GD-FTV (2.4-liter diesel) engine that produces a maximum power of 147 hp (150Ps) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The 2GD engine has also been improved for the New Fortuner V and G variants with a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation Fortuner.
This power delivery can be further tuned to your driving style with the Eco and Sport driving modes for the LTD and Q variants, and Eco and Power for the V and G variants.
Innovative security
With safety as Toyota’s top priority, the New Fortuner is the latest vehicle to earn Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). TSS is a safety suite that includes intelligent safety systems such as Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control now available for Fortuner LTD and Q.
All variants come with SRS airbags (seven for LTD variants), ELR three-point seat belts, anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, vehicle stability control with cruise control. traction and hill start assist control. The LTD 4 × 4 variant also has Downhill Assist Control.
All variants also come with a total of six offset and reverse probes, plus the wide-view monitor that comes with the LTD, Q, and V variants or reversing camera for the G variants.
