Geekbench results for iPhone 12 surface show modest performance gains

Android Authority, 2 hours agoA14 CPU is not lacking in power, as the Snapdragon 865 can too. Xperia 1 II with same sens … moreThe larger 12 Pro Max has a larger sensor comparable to the sensor in the Xperia 1 ii.
But all other iPhone 12, 11, XS / XR models use smaller 1 / 2.55-inch sensors. They are limited to 4K60. It’s not because of the A14.
Ultra-wide telephoto sensors are old at 1 / 3.4-inch sizes.
Even the Xperia 1/5 ii’s ultra-wide sensors have 1 / 2.55-inch sensors.

who cares, it’s a phone … if I want power I’ll use my PC, that’s over 50k on multicore. I don’t understand why people wet their pants with a mobile device that can’t do anything other than social media.

domraym, 2 hours agoI bet the battery life will suck. They always say “1-2 hours longer battery life than last year … moreThat’s likely, as has been said many times, while the batteries have been downsized, the 5nm A14 probably maintains higher efficiency levels.

I guess the iPhone 12 Mini will probably be placed between the SE 2020 and the iPhone 11 in terms of battery efficiency.

It’s a 6.1 ” year from #Apple – 4 devices 6.1 ” in size.
$ 499, $ 599, $ 799, $ 999
I wonder how these companies got so big being so stupid …
They could have easily made a 5.8 ” (or lower) version of 12 or 12 pro to offer diversity and reduced price in this Corona pandemic …

The 20% is not a “modest profit”; it is substantial.

Anonymous, 6 hours agoRumors said that iPhones would have 4K @ 120/240 (not HDR). So, two options. Sensors do not … moreWell, the Xperia 5 II has the 4k HDR @ 120fps option on the Snapdragon 865. So it’s certainly not because the processor couldn’t do it.

Just hours ago, Apple fanboys defended their small Antutu earnings in previous news comments. Saying it’s unreliable and Geekbench is the right way to measure performance. Hmm, where are they?

The Guesser Leakster, 5 hours agoWhat about Kirin 9000?This guy is always talking about Kirin … damn, the Kirin era is over … accept the truth … only 8.8 units in production …
Also, the a14 is aimed at “SUSTAINED PERFORMANCE” rather than short duration peak power … the a13 is not a sustainable processor at all … it reaches full power at 6 watts and then drops to 4 watts for sustained performance. … so I think a14 will normally run at 4 watts so there is no performance limitation or anything … a14 is the most energy efficient and sustainable processor in the world … since processors based on a14 MacBooks and imac will be used where sustained performance is important, Apple eliminated peak performance and started a new method of efficient sustained performance … for details search anandtech on a13 bionic

If I ever decided to go back to ios I’ll go with ip 11 instead of the new 12 … not a big update … this is only incremental … unless I go for 12 pro max for a new camera .. .but that’s all I have … besides, my country still doesn’t have adequate 5g support … why spend more? It’s just a damn iphone … even the 6 can do a basic task like a newer one.

It is just my opinion.

Xperia 1 II with the same sensor can do it, so that is not the case either.
It’s good that Apple decides not to give its inmates a particular feature.

JDK, 6 hours agoThere was a geekbench score with a score of 4152 so the validity of this is questionable. … plusHaha what you gonna say now
Isn’t GeekBench cross-platform performance to be compared too?

Thank goodness the Pro models have 6GB of RAM, now they’re going to pass YouTube speed tests without being touched by another phone.

However, in reality, it won’t make a noticeable difference. But people would complain if they were 4 sooo

I bet the battery life will suck. They always say “1-2 hours more battery life than last year’s iPhone” during their events, but this year they were quiet.

Apple and Kaiann:

The A14 Bionic is the most powerful chip ever seen in a smartphone.
The CPU and GPU of the A14 Bionic are 50% more powerful than its predecessors (compares to the A12 Bionic, not the A13 Bionic)
Antutu and Geekbench scores are very disappointing.

Apple lied to us. Apple is not innovative now. I don’t know why their products remain popular despite all that. I am quite disappointed in the Apple Chipset team. The A14 is still good, don’t get me wrong. But it is not yet maximized. The A13 gains from the A12 Bionic are huge despite the same 7nm process. Whereas A14 has very little gains over A13 despite the new 5nm process.

The most powerful chip on planet earth right now:

Kirin 9000

1. Better CPU
2. GPU (not sure if it will beat adreno)
3. Energy efficiency
4. ISP (evident by auto mode in photo mode that outperformed other phones night mode and RYYB processing)
5. Integrated 5G modem means better energy efficiency and better signal
6. Better connection (it’s huawei bruh, huawei is good at connectivity)

JDK, 6 hours agoThere was a geekbench score with a score of 4152 so the validity of this is questionable. … plusThese are scores with background activity, low power mode, or even throttling. And just like with any other soc, you can have lower scores and post them to the GB database. (it’s one of the reasons why even with some A13 results reaching 3500, the average is below 3300)

Like this S20 + 5G with S865
https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/4192049

Or this one, with a really weird low single but normal multicore:
https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/4191842

No company guarantees top performance. These are probably real, but they don’t show the full performance of the chip.

Let’s hope for a more controlled environment like with anandtech testing.

dbjungle, 6 hours agoThis is still fast.Agreed. Anyway, the faster the clock speed, the worse, the better life. I’d rather have the higher battery life efficiency, rather than the faster SoC speed.
