It hasn’t been the best of stages for two-time ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.

Since losing the title to Shinya Aoki in March last year, he has lost three of his last four bouts, including a shocking split decision loss to Pieter Buist last January.

But there really is no other way for the 35-year-old to end this funk than to get back in the cage, one he will do on ONE: Inside The Matrix on October 30.

“I am very excited to be back in action, especially after having to wait so long locked up. We have been anxiously anticipating when we will be able to return to competition, and I am glad that moment has finally arrived.” I am absolutely excited and training very hard at the moment to put on a good show, “said the Team Lakay stalwart.

Folayang will face Australian forward Antonio Caruso, pushing himself to erase the bitter memories of his past losses and once again put himself in position to contest the title.

“I can say that the results of these upcoming fights are very important to us, as we have not gotten the results that we wanted recently. So now, we are really aiming for the best possible results,” he said. “We are fully focused on doing whatever it takes to claim victory right now. It won’t be easy, but we are ready to do our best. We want to go in with confidence.”

But Folayang (22-9) knows he can’t think too much ahead, knowing the legitimate threat Caruso (7-1) poses.

“Antonio Caruso is a strong fighter. I’ve seen his previous fights, “he said.” I don’t think he’s a guy you can take lightly. Of course, I am doing my best to prepare for his style. As usual, it will be about dictating the pace and getting him to fight my fight. You can’t underestimate anyone in this game, so I’m not going to start with him. “

“I’ve been training for a long time, even if I didn’t know who my opponent was going to be. I just wanted to prepare myself physically and I feel very strong right now. Mentally, I’m focused and I’m going straight to where I need to be. “

Still, Folayang is getting confident, as he promises to be the best version of himself after a nine-month hiatus.

“I think we’ve created a solid game plan. And we’ve got all the bases covered. Whether this fight is spent standing or ends up on the ground, I’ll be ready,” he said.

“I’m going to show the world what one hundred percent Eduard Folayang is like. I’m excited to get back in the circle and do what I do best.”
