PH, China OK fast track for Chinese citizens

MANILA, Philippines – While the entry of foreigners remains restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippines will facilitate the entry of Chinese nationals involved in select industries.

During their official weekend visit to China, Locsin and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed to establish a “fast track for urgently needed personnel exchanges.”

The fast track “will facilitate, with due guarantees, the movement of essential official exchanges and the travel of personnel in crucial industries such as business and commerce, infrastructure, logistics, production and technical services,” the Department of Foreign Relations said in a statement.

Since March, foreigners have been banned from entering the Philippines, except for diplomats and immediate family members of Filipinos, since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in China in December last year.
