CLARK FREEPORT – Showing no rust despite the league’s long hiatus, TNT guard Roger Pogoy said his familiarity with isolation helped him get ahead with a run in the historic first PBA bubble game Sunday for night at the Angeles University Foundation Arena here.

The Gilas Pilipinas standout shot his career-high 45 points, built on 10 3-pointers and a total of 17 of 29 shots from the field to propel Tropang Giga to its first Philippine Cup victory, the only conference to date season, at the expense of the Alaska Aces, 100-95.

“Maybe my advantage is that I’m used to being alone because I don’t have anyone in the condo,” said Pogoy, who became the fifth player in PBA history to score at least eight 3-pointers in three games.

“I used to go home right after practice. That’s just my routine, so it’s an advantage for me. “

With his explosive performance, fans were quick to consider Pogoy as a possible candidate for a bubble Most Valuable Player award, if any.

But for the 28-year-old bigwig from Cebuano, it’s still too early to tell as he just wants to focus on staying consistent during the short season.

“’I won’t first think about what they want to call me. As long as we win, the team played well and won, that’s really my focus now, ”he said.

“That’s the hardest thing to sustain a game like this. I will really do my best. Even if the points aren’t like this, as long as I can help the team and our team win.”
