MANILA – Actor Romnick Sarmenta and his girlfriend Barbara Ruaro are expecting a baby.
The two confirmed the good news through their respective Instagram posts on Sunday morning.
Sharing images of Ruaro’s pregnancy test result, Sarmenta said: “IB A. Infinitely blessed with your affirmation. You are different Lord, thank you very much ”.
Ruaro, for his part, thanked the Lord for the gift of life.
“The cross that appeared in my trial and this miracle as a whole is Your strongest and most comforting affirmation,” he wrote.
“I praise you and thank you for my Nicko, as well as all of our friends and families who have expressed and continue to show their unwavering love and support,” added Ruaro.
According to Ruaro’s post, she and Sarmenta expect to receive their first child in February.
Sarmenta was previously married to Harlene Bautista. They first confirmed their breakup in 2018, after being married for 19 years. They have five children.
In an open letter last June, Sarmenta categorically denied speculation that a third party caused his split.
He also confirmed in the same open letter a new romance, although he did not reveal the identity of his partner at the time.
“These last few days, people have been talking about me and a person whom I respect very much,” she said then, amid rumors sparked by a June 5 post on her Instagram page showing a woman, whose face is darkened, holding flowers.
“What people don’t know about her is that she is an insightful, talented and passionate person with various defenses that reflect my beliefs. That she is a person of great importance to me, that she deserves respect and privacy. That I see her at the height of nobody else, never less and never more than the beautiful person that she is. That I see her as my equal, and on many occasions, a person I admire. That for me, to be known as a person who is with me, is a grave insult to her and a disservice to what she means to me, “he said.
Since the woman became romantically involved with Sarmenta, the actor said she has been “insulted, accused of things she is not and does not do, and exposed to scrutiny she does not deserve.”
“Only her intelligence, wisdom, confidence, and knowledge of me kept her from leaving. And I’m grateful. For her.”
Sarmenta appealed to his followers to respect the private lives of celebrities in general and not resort to unfounded rumors that, according to him, can cause unnecessary damage and conflict.
“Finally, if people are so curious to know what is happening in my private life, then let me be the one to post it. It is not a rumor, not a gossip, or a long debate between people hiding behind their devices and opinions … You will hear it from me. And I will express it clearly. No more. No less, “he said.
