MANILA, Philippines – Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. is in Beijing, China, this weekend for bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in a statement on Friday, said that Locsin’s visit to China is his first official trip abroad since February. Locsin and Wang were expected to hold a bilateral meeting to discuss “advancing the Philippines-China cooperation and revitalizing engagement on various fronts, under the ‘new normal,'” the DFA said.
Both ministers will also discuss “regional and global issues of mutual interest.” It was Wang who invited Locsin, according to the DFA. – Jerome Aning
