MANILA, Philippines – Father Sonny Ramirez passed away on Saturday. He was 74 years old.
The death of the Catholic priest was revealed by the official Facebook page of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila, where Ramírez finished his university degree.
“REST IN PEACE. We pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Father Sonny Ramirez, OP, a former student of Letran,” the publication said.
“Grant him eternal rest, O Lord, and let eternal light shine on him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, by the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen, ”he added.

There were no immediate details on the cause of Ramírez’s death.
Ramírez, a graduate of the Colegio de San Juan de Letrán, is a famous Dominican priest. He was one of the founding preachers of the “Seven Words”, a Lenten tradition during Good Friday, where the faithful would remember the seven last words of Jesus Christ during his passion and death.
The tradition started 25 years ago.
