More than a great salary, Quest Hotel is pleased to serve the bubble delegation

CLARK FREEPORT – With the pandemic leading companies to huge losses, General Manager Michael Gapin is grateful Hotel Quest is busy serving the 350-member Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) delegation in the bubble.

Gapin said they submitted their proposal to the PBA upon learning that Clark would host the bubble and the good news came within a week.

“We are very happy to have been awarded as the official hotel (of the PBA bubble). As we all know during these difficult times with this pandemic, it is a very good source of income for the property, ”said Gapin, who did not discuss the details of his deal with Asia’s premier gaming-for-pay league. Gapin, however, found that there are 210 occupied rooms.

In addition to the financial and promotional aspects of the deal, the French manager said that most of his 140 employees are happy to see and serve the basketball players they admire.

“It’s an amazing thing for them too because some of them really watch their idols.”

But having a huge delegation like the PBA carries the same enormity of responsibility, especially with all the guidelines in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

All staff, who would also stay at the hotel for the duration of the bubble, were screened for Covid-19 four days before the teams started arriving.

Thermal scanners and foot baths were placed at the hotel entrances and hand sanitizing stations can be seen in various areas. Sanitary protocols for cleaning rooms were also carried out.

Generally, hotel employees work around the clock to make sure everyone in the bubble lives in a safe environment.

“It is a great responsibility because it is the first in the Philippines. So we want to make sure we set high standards. But first of all, what we really need to understand is that the safety and health of the players are our top priorities, ”Gapin said.

“Our goal is to make sure players are focused on their game and we will take care of the rest,” he added.

Fortunately, Gapin said they haven’t encountered any major problems yet, thanks to the lessons they had when Quest was chosen as one of the hotels for delegates to the Southeast Asian Games last year.

“We learned a lot from there and were able to replicate it for the PBA bubble,” said Gapin, who also praised his diligent staff.

“It is a team effort. We want to make sure we help each other. “

And your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

“The teams were happy with the registration process. They feel very safe and that’s really our goal here, to make sure the registration is smooth, they feel safe and they enjoy the isolation so it doesn’t last too long, ”Gapin said.

“We also have to deliver good food and they have been quite happy with the meal plan that our executive chef has implemented. I would say that, so far, we have received very good feedback from coaches, team managers and players as well.
