More than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases raise PH count to 326,833

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 6) – COVID-19 cases in the Philippines increased by 2,093 on Tuesday, reaching 326,833, the Department of Health reported.

Of the count, 47,655, or about 14 percent, are active cases or currently ill patients, according to the DOH count. About 85.6 percent have mild symptoms, 9.5 percent have no symptoms, 1.6 percent are severe cases, and 3.4 percent are in critical condition.

The case report showed that Metro Manila had 557 of the new patients, while Cavite had 253, Iloilo had 166, Bulacan had 125 and Batangas had 118.

Another 209 COVID-19 survivors also raised the recovery count to 273,313, while 25 new deaths brought the death toll to 5,865.

Among the recently reported deaths, the DOH said nine died in October, 15 in September and one in August.

The department noted that 20 testing labs were unable to submit their reports on time and were not yet included in the latest figures.

Twenty-two duplicates were also removed from the overall case count as part of DOH’s data cleanup process. He added that eight cases previously reported as recoveries turned out to be deaths after final validation.
