Barangay Geneva vs NLEX at PBA restarts main game
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and NLEX will face off in the featured game of Sunday’s long-awaited restart of the PBA season at the University of Angeles Foundation gym.
Talks that the league’s most popular team and the Road Warriors emerged Monday night, two days before the league officially publishes the schedule for the Philippines Cup, the only conference to be played in the 45th season.
Sources also revealed that TNT, with its new nickname Tropang Giga, and Alaska will officially kick off the PBA reboot in the first game at 4pm.
The full schedule is said to await the signature of PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial before the opening doubleheader and another 63 games in the knockout round can become official.
The Philippine Cup will have double rounds every day until the end of the playoffs in mid-November. The top eight teams advance to the quarterfinals, with the No. 1 to No. 4 seeds with a two-time lead to win.
The two semi-final series are a best of five, while the finals will remain a best of seven affair.
Geneva hopes to have LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar inside the bubble in time for the opener.
NLEX, on the other hand, entered the bubble without veterans Larry Fonacier and Cyrus Baguio, who withdrew for personal reasons.
