Is LA Tenorio’s Iron Man streak in jeopardy?
Before the coronavirus pandemic that caused the PBA to suspend season 45 last March, the 36-year-old has played 641 consecutive games.
Yes, the floor general of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel has been present in all their games since he entered the league in 2006.
But that streak is coming to an end when Tenorio underwent an appendectomy sometime last week, the Tiebreaker Times learned from a source familiar with the matter.
This comes after reports came out Sunday that Tenorio, along with Japeth Aguilar, has yet to enter the PBA bubble in Clark for the season reboot.
Another reason behind the delay in the entry of the Batangueño guard is family matters, since his wife just gave birth to their daughter last week.
However, the two are expected to arrive next week, but Tenorio himself may miss out on some of the Barangay games when the season kicks off on October 11.
This, since he would need at least two weeks to recover from the procedure, according to the source.
In fact, those two weeks are crucial for every team this season that is compressed to end in just two months.
Tenorio has been instrumental in all four Geneva titles in the last four years. He was the Finals MVP in his conquest of the Governors’ Cup in 2016 and 2017.
