LeBron en route to fourth ring, Lakers No. 17 title

CHICAGO – I’ve never been accused of being a LeBron James fan.

Although I like him as a person, more so now after he’s thrown himself at the forefront of the fight for social equity, I have a disdain for his nomadic pursuit of NBA titles.

Burning bridges while building new kingdoms, to me, is salty, bleak.

And while my 2020 NBA Finals pick was tainted with a hate bias, it takes some humility to admit it and a pair of good eyes to see that LeBron and his Los Angeles cohorts are simply the biggest and best team. .

Consider this piece my flabby white flag. And I shake it meekly, my head bowed in sweet surrender.

Hey, listen, say hi to the King!

LeBron is getting his fourth ring and the Lakers are raising the banner of the 17th championship at Staples Center.

In concept, this best-of-seven series doesn’t end after just two games. But the life and vigor of this confrontation are gone and the favorable outcome for the Lakers is irreversible.

THE MIAMI HEATS ARE BEATEN, BROKEN.

And without Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic, they look lost like Vina Morales, who had her cell phone ripped from her precious hands while sitting in her car at EDSA the other day.

By The Miami Herald, the Heat have outscored their opponents by a total of 55 points in 16 playoff games where Adebayo and Dragic were in the lineup. Without them, the Heat were outscored by 18.2 points per 100 possessions.

As questions continued to cloud the Heat, the Lakers continued to pepper us with answers.

In a Game 2 where Danny Green, Kantavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso combined for a lousy 10 of 35 shots, Rajon Rondo, of all people, was 3 of 4 behind the arc and dazzled with 16 points. and 10 assists.

That, plus the consistent excellence of LeBron and Anthony Davis, are the reasons the Lakers are leading 2-0 and feel like it’s 4-0-see.

After a combined 59 points, 22 rebounds and 14 assists in Game 1, LeBron and AD did it again in Game 2 with a richer and more eye-catching run of 65 points, 23 rebounds and 10 dimes.

That is not going to change in the future and that is why Heat fans are sulking with the dying, sunken reality that hope and chance have left the bubble.

And while Jimmy Butler will always bring the fight no matter what, this is a lost cause. The Lakers are unstoppable in a way that asteroids must land somewhere, somehow.

No joy seeps out of the words that come out of this column, but I am sadder that Miami’s injuries have deprived us of at least one meaningful and energetic series that a game here and there could influence in any way.

Seeing Miami fall behind by 32 points in Game 1 and fall behind by 18 in Game 2 is not what I imagined the 2020 NBA Finals would look like, especially after the onslaught of cliffhangers we witnessed in the finals of conference.

However, the fact that Miami is not in tip-top shape does not diminish this title race. You just need to polish it.

LeBron is 35 years old with 59,201 minutes on his knees. The fact that he has stayed sane and continues to do otherworldly alien things is a tribute to his real strength and lasting power.

An asterisk is not needed here. But an exclamation point would be fine.
