Mark Magsayo is officially ready for his return to America.
The undefeated featherweight contender heads up the latest edition of the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FS1, facing Rigoberto Hermosillo in the main event on Saturday night from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Both boxers made weight for the event as did all the participants on the undercard. Manila’s Magsayo (20-0, 14KOs) weighed 127 pounds in his first fight in the United States since 2016. The town-based Hermosillo (11-2-1, 8KOs) registered 126.6 pounds, as the Mexican left-hander aims to end a two-fight skid.
His fight is scheduled for 10 rounds, as is the main support of the night, which many have called the potential fight of the night.
Philadelphia’s Paul Kroll (7-0, 6KOs) makes his West Coast debut alongside a scheduled 10-round bout for the first time in his career, as he faces local prospect Lucas Santamaria (11-1-1, 7KOs) in a 10-round welterweight crossroads bout. Kroll posted 147 pounds, while Santamaria tipped the scales at 146.4 pounds.
Kroll is coming off a fourth-round knockout of Marcel Rivers in his hometown of Philadelphia last January. Santamaria returns to the FS1 circuit less than two months after his 10-round split decision victory over Mykal Fox last August.
Also in action are 18-year-old twin brothers Ángel and Chávez Barrientes, who make their US debut in bouts separate from the undercard.
Ángel Barrientes (2-0, 2KOs) weighed 120.8 pounds for a scheduled six-round clash against Fernando Ibarra (2-3), who weighed 121.2 pounds.
Chávez Barrientes (2-0, 2KOs) hit 123.6 pounds for his scheduled six-round relationship with Iván Varela (3-2), who weighed slightly more at 123.8 pounds.
Both first-year professionals celebrated their 18th birthday in August, making them eligible to fight anywhere in the United States. They both turned professionals last November in Tijuana, where they returned last March. The twins hail from Honolulu, but currently live and train in Las Vegas.
