June Mar Fajardo arrives on the field, shoots from the three-point arc
San Miguel Beer star June Mar Fajardo entered the court Friday for the first time since hurting his right shin in practice last February.
The current six-time PBA MVP spent an hour honing his shooting skills at Beermen’s practice facility in Acropolis Village with the help of Beermen’s assistant coach Boycie Zamar and Andrew Buhalan.
“After (eight) long months, nakabalik na din sa court. Slowly but surely he languished, ”Fajardo said after a YouTube video of his training and also thanked those who supported him since he began his road to recovery.
Fajardo spent most of the session practicing with his mid-range jump shots, even trying from three-point range. The gentle 6-foot-10 giant is known for working on his shots beyond rainbow territory during SMB practices.
The session should lift Fajardo’s morale as he continues to recover from the injury that will put him out for the PBA season resume on October 11 inside the bubble at Clark, Pampanga.
San Miguel remains the favorite to win a sixth consecutive Philippine Cup without Fajardo, as demonstrated last March 8 when they beat Magnolia 94-78 in the only PBA game before suspension.
