Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Wednesday that he directed the Manila Department of Health to provide free swab tests to these workers under Executive Order No. 39.
“The real threat of COVID-19 will continue to persist in our community, sending fear to all people of becoming infected with it. This fear will affect not only the preferences and individual behavior of each person, but also the economic growth (of the city), ”Moreno said in a statement.
“To allay the fear of becoming infected with COVID-19, it is necessary to assure the public that the employees of these frequently visited establishments are free of COVID-19 and thus stimulate economic activities,” he added.
Moreno also directed the heads of the Manila Permitting and Licensing Office, the Manila Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts, and the Manila Traffic and Parking Office to “require that establishments under their jurisdiction require the completion of declaration forms of Mandatory health for contact tracing purposes. “
Executive Order No. 39 was issued after the inauguration of the Sta. Ana Hospital’s new molecular laboratory, which is capable of processing about 1,000 swab tests a day.
The facility was built thanks to the efforts of the Manila city government, the help of the Ayala Group of Companies, and donations provided by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
