RYAN Arana won’t have his No. 1 fan when he goes with Rain or Shine inside Clark’s bubble in the PBA season reboot.
The veteran shooting guard lost his father just a week before the teams began traveling to Pampanga, where everyone will stay for the next two months for the resumption of the long-delayed Philippine Cup.
Arana and the Elasto Painters left for Clark Freeport Tuesday just hours after the 37-year-old guard posted a moving message to his late father on social media.
“Entering #PBABubble with a heavy heart but full of motivation and inspiration,” said the De La Salle product.

He recalled how his father told him he was excited to see his son play again with the impending start of the season.
It was to be the last conversation between father and son.
“Now, you have the best seat in heaven cheering me on,” Arana continued. “This is for you, dad.”
The death of Arana’s father occurred just a month after the death of his father-in-law.
Arana referred to the two elders as “the forgotten heroes of my life.”
The Elasto Painters signed Arana to a one-season contract this year, reuniting him with the franchise where he began his professional career. The Tondo-born point guard was selected by the Elasto Painters in the second round of the 2007 draft and won his first championship with the team during the 2012 Governors Cup.
