MANILA, Philippines – The former Fighting Maroons player from the University of the Philippines (UP) and four other people were arrested early Tuesday in Parañaque for alleged possession of high-grade marijuana and a bag of alleged cocaine.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspects as former Philippine University Athletic Association (UAAP) basketball player Kevin Astorga; Agustín Montejo; Jericho Tumagan; Karen Salvahan and Miguel Mojares.

Members of the PDEA National Capital Region, the Southern Police District and the Parañaque police launched the shopping raid on Barangay BF Homes at 12 am

During the buy-raid operation, PDEA confiscated approximately 150 grams of high-quality kush or marijuana; a small transparent bag of alleged cocaine; various drug paraphernalia and cell phones.

The PDEA said the amount of illegal drugs seized is still “undetermined.”

Previous reports also showed that Astorga is also the head of the RP-Burlington Youth Team for the Southeast Asian Basketball Association Youth Championship in 2004.

The suspects are in the custody of the PDEA for the preparation of drug complaints brought before them.
