Reality TV is definitely an interstellar trend! Following the surprise announcement last week of the finale of the star reality TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” a new form of show is in the works. Deadline reported that production company Space Hero is navigating the space trend, following the SpaceX initiative, to send civilians (i.e. tourists) into space.
“Space Hero” will be the first reality show to send the best contestant to the International Space Station. It is a global contest launched by the American production company Space Hero. Candidates for this extraterrestrial adventure will be selected from around the world, and the launch is scheduled for 2023.
Global transmission?
“Space Hero” will undertake a worldwide search to find its protagonist who is capable of traveling into space. Contestants from the show will take part in high intensity training to prepare for the final ride. The winner will go on a ten-day mission to the ISS. The TV show will follow the entire process, from candidate selection to training, and will even air the 10-day space trip.
Like any astronaut, contestants will undergo extensive training to test their physical, mental and emotional strength. According to Deadline, this unscripted show could be broadcast worldwide on television and on streaming platforms. At the moment, there is no channel attached to the project.
Production company Space Hero is collaborating with the aerospace company Axiom Space, launched by a former NASA employee who worked for the ISS. Although Axiom has plans to ship its own commercial transportation service in 2024, transportation for this show has yet to be made official. JB
