Sony apologizes for chaotic PlayStation 5 pre-orders

As anyone who tried to order a PlayStation 5 this weekend can attest: it was a disaster. Now Sony has apologized for its very poorly managed pre-order system.

Sony took to Twitter to address the pre-order disaster and apologized to gamers, writing, “Let’s be honest: PS5 pre-orders could have been a lot easier. We really apologize for that.” The company also announced that in the coming days “we will launch more PS5 consoles for pre-order; retailers will share more details.”

On Wednesday, Sony released the pricing for the PS5 and said pre-orders will launch “as soon as tomorrow.” However, fans were surprised when retailers opened pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 without warning a day ahead of schedule.

The sudden links of unregulated pre-orders caused a frenzy among potential buyers, and in the end, fans were left empty-handed as resellers had multiple pre-orders on their hands.

Per Sony’s apology, those who missed out should be on the lookout for more pre-orders “over the next few days,” with more units by the end of the year.
