Showtime has a pivotal fight at 154 pounds as the main event is the knockout showdown for the WBC super welterweight title between Erickson “Hammer” Lubin and Terrell Gausha Saturday night
Please make no mistake; both know the importance of this since it has been working since last October.
The stakes in this title eliminator are simple. The winner of this fight will be one step closer to being the mandatory opponent to challenge the winner of Jermell Charlo and Jeison Rosario in their unification fight that will take place next Saturday.

Lubin (22-1-0, 16 KOs) was last in the ring last October, assuming a late replacement. Nathaniel Gallimore and becoming too much for him, winning the victory by wide unanimous decision. The original scheduled opponent was Gausha, but he had to withdraw due to injury. Lubin took note of this and attacked him after the victory.
“At the beginning we had Terrell Gausha, but he fell due to injury. I do not know what happened. I think she’s pregnant or something, Lubin said after Gallimore’s win.
Criticism aside, Lubin, while speaking to the media this week, felt he saw something in Gashua’s game that he would capitalize on in the ring.
“I think Gausha has some problems with lefties, but I’m not focused on that. I’m focused on my game plan and coming out victorious on Saturday night, ”Lubin said in the media call this week.
“I have to go out and win, but I also have to win in style. I have to look good winning. I feel that my advantage is that I am more determined than him. I am younger and I think I have the advantage in almost every department. I know I am a couple of steps ahead of him.

Gausha (21-1-1, 10 KOs) last seen was in action taking on Austin Trout in Biloxi last year in a contest that, though in my eyes, broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and fans of the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino thought won, ends with a split decision draw. Despite that result, he was still scheduled to face Lubin in October last year, but had to withdraw due to a hand injury. Gausha cleared the air around his hand and is ready to go on Saturday.
“My hand has totally healed,” Gausha said this week, coming out of training ground. “I’m ready to go full throttle and I have no problems there anymore. The pandemic actually helped the healing process because I wasn’t using my hands as much. So I’m definitely 100% now. “
Speaking about the confrontation with Lubin, Gashua mentioned how this would be a familiar style that he has seen as it would be another southpaw he will face in the ring.
“There is no pressure on me. I definitely want to let go of my hands, but there is no pressure, ”Gausha told the media this week. This will be my fourth straight southpaw. So this time I feel more comfortable and familiar.
“I like the showdown in style heading into the fight with Lubin. He likes to be busy and push action, and I think that’s better for me and gives me a chance to catch him.
The sportsbooks have favored Lubin in this contest as a 6-to-1 favorite in most places in the closest fight of the night on the Showtime undercard. The consensus is that Lubin’s age is 24 to Gashua’s 33. We’ll see if that plays any role in this, as they both look to get into the title image tonight after this.
