CEBU CITY, Philippines – The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) here plans to require that all arriving locally stranded individuals (LSI) be cleaned up.
This after at least 12 LSIs tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) since the beginning of September 2020.

Many of the LSIs that tested positive for COVID-19 were from Metro Manila, but some are from other areas, an indication that the virus can come from anywhere.
Councilman Joel Garganera, head of the EOC, said they plan to install swabbing areas at the port where all LSIs will go after their arrival.
One area may be the Tinago gym, because it is the closest structure under the jurisdiction of the city government that can be used. Another option is to set up a tent inside the port.
“Maybe if we can design the plan, by next week all the LSIs will have been cleaned. At this time, only the Metro Manila LSIs will be cleaned, but the virus does not discriminate a location. It can come from anywhere, ”said the councilor.
The Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) will establish such a swab area so that you can begin serving LSIs before the end of the month.
The LSIs, after being cleaned, are mandated to undergo a 14-day home quarantine to be monitored by the officials of their respective barangays (villages).
The EOC assured that the cost of the swab test will be borne by the city government. / bmjo
