A child walks along the breakwater at Baseco Compound in Manila on Thursday as dead fish float along Manila Bay due to fish kill. In a statement, the director of the Office of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Eduardo Gongona, said that water quality tests at Baseco showed that dissolved oxygen in the area was only 0.11 mg / L, much lower than the level acceptable 5 mg / L for aquatic life. Gongona also warned against consuming fish that is not caught fresh and alive.
