James delos Santos aims for 2 more karate golds

MANILA, Philippines – World No. 2 Filipino karateka James delos Santos will have the opportunity to add two more gold medals to his growing collection as he defeated two different semi-final rivals in separate online competitions.
The 30-year-old delos Santos edged Chrisley Philippart of Belgium, 24.5-23.1, at the E-Tournament Middle of the World Hatamotokai to advance to the final where he will collide with Murilo Alves of Brazil, who moved on to the final after Domont Matias. Moreno’s video entry was rejected.
Within hours of each other, the former two-time SEA Games bronze medalist defeated Hugh Connolly of Ireland, 24.3-23.8, to also advance to the final of the Arawaza-sponsored Sportsdata World Series e-Tournament.
Delos Santos said Arawaza’s lean would have a more significant effect on his attempt to catch up with World No. 1 Eduardo Garcia of Portugal, as he has four points at stake than the regulars.
“This is the most prestigious eTournament because the number of points awarded there is multiplied by four,” said delos Santos.
Delos Santos is coming off a pair of bronze medal efforts at the Golden League E-Tournament and the fourth Adidas Karate World Open last week.
To date, delos Santos had already collected eight mints, a pair of silver, and four bronzes.
