Is Bismarck Lina the next to leave the Tigers’ lair?
Former UST Tiger Cub and Growling Tigers are engaged, Bismarck Lina, in talks for a possible transfer to the UP Fighting Maroons, sources told ESPN5 Wednesday afternoon.
According to one of the sources, the conversations are still exploratory since Lina cannot play in UAAP Season 83, as the registration period for this school year has already closed.
“Our (UP) managers are already in talks with him, but we are still in discussion as he can play in season 84,” said the source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive issue.
Lina starred in UST High and posted averages of 16.6 points, 10.9 points and 2.1 assists in her final youth season. She also dressed for Gilas’ youth team at the FIBA Asia U18 Championship in 2018.
If the 6’4 player goes through with his transfer, he will enjoy a maximum of five years for the Maroons and will make his debut in season 84, along with CJ Cansino, Malick Diouf, Jancork Cabahug and Joel Cagulangan.
Among those who have already left the UST are Cansino, who was the first to leave and moved to the UP; Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller, who have transferred to Letran; Jun Asunción, who went to Mapúa; and the tandem of Mark Nonoy and Deo Cuajao, who moved to La Salle.
