Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 15) – A famous Manila-based plastic surgeon was arrested in a police operation in Cagayan De Oro.
Authorities in northern Mindanao arrested Dr. Joel Méndez at a shopping mall in Lapasan on Sunday.
Méndez was apprehended under the arrest warrant issued by a court in the city of Mandaluyong last February. He is now detained in the Maharlika Detention Center and will be transferred back to Manila.
“We will never stop until all wanted people [are] arrested and put behind bars as it is our mandate to enforce the law [and] ensure the safety of other people who may be potential victims, “said Brigadier General Rolando Anduyan, North Mindanao Police Chief.
Mendez is the owner of Skinology Spa and Wellness Center, a Quezon City-based medical spa.
The cosmetic surgeon was arrested on July 12, 2018 in the city of Mandaluyong for allegedly sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl and a model from the Méndez Medical Group within his clinic in 2015. He was released after posting bail.
