MANILA, Philippines – So far no Filipinos have been reported affected by the recent wildfires off the west coast of the United States, the Department of Foreign Relations (DFA) said.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirms that so far no Filipinos have been reported affected by the recent wildfire incidents off the west coast of the United States,” the DFA said in a statement Monday.

The DFA then advised the public to monitor the notices posted by the Philippine Consulates General in Los Angeles and San Francisco for updates and necessary assistance.

More than 30 people were reported to have died following wildfires on the West Coast, according to local authorities.

The fire in California, Oregon and Washington state has burned nearly five million acres, destroying neighborhoods and driving thousands of residents away from their homes.
