2021 Jaguar F-Pace hides big changes to the interior and powertrain under a familiar sheet metal

Jaguar’s first crossover is getting a major update. The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace, while it doesn’t look much different on the outside, hides a completely new interior and new engines.

The changes to the exterior are quite slight, like those of the F-Type. The headlights and taillights are thinner, and the tails completely lose their small rounded sections. The grille and diffuser areas of the bumpers have been slightly changed, and the main grille has different inserts on all trims. The fender vents now have the “Leaper” cat logo embedded in them.

Under the hood there are two types of engines. There’s the well-known 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine at the base of the range with 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Above that are two versions of the new six-cylinder inline engine, both of which use a normal turbocharger and an electric supercharger. The less powerful version generates 335 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, while the high-performance version generates 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Each engine also has a belt-driven starter generator that runs on the same 48-volt electrical system that drives the electric supercharger. All engines are mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased four-wheel drive system.

The interior receives the most noticeable changes immediately. The curved and rounded dash of the outgoing model is replaced by a sharper design with better integrated air vents and large sections of contrasting leather and other accents such as metal or wood trim. An available 11.4-inch infotainment screen dominates the center console and runs the new Pivi Pro infotainment system released on Land Rover Defender and Jaguar I-Pace. This infotainment system can support pairing of two phones at the same time and can receive wireless updates. The instrument cluster is available as a 12.3-inch screen that can be configured to display a variety of different information, including navigation information. The old shift dial is replaced by a small leather and metal shift lever.

Jaguar also includes more features as standard on the F-Pace. These include heated seats, a Meridian sound system, keyless entry, blind spot monitoring, and a surround-view camera. Active noise cancellation is also standard and a first for a Jaguar.

Pricing and a sale date for the new F-Pace have yet to be announced.
