Millions of acres of forest and land continue to burn along the West Coast through the weekend, displacing thousands and filling cities with dangerous smoke.

California is fighting 29 wildfires that have burned more than 2.8 million acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, including the August Complex fire north of San Francisco, which is by far the largest fire. in state history with 877,477.
According to the Bureau of Land Management, there are 16 fires burning 878,000 acres in Oregon and 13 fires in Washington burning 676,000 acres.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said Friday the wildfires have displaced 40,000 residents, while 500,000 are being warned or ordered to evacuate.
The smoky air, which turned some city skies dark orange last week, threatens the respiratory health of residents living near the fires, especially as the West Coast continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic. .

Since the fires started in August, 33 people have died from wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington.
