Louie Alas is still trying to figure things out the day after Phoenix gave him the pink note. But if there’s a job offer coming his way in the next few days, the former Phoenix head coach would definitely consider it.
“From now on I’m fixing everything,” he said in a text message to ESPN5.com on Saturday. “Pag may dumating, I’ll entertain you. Wala pa from now on.”
Unfortunately, it was a class act even after getting the boot on Friday. He took to social media the next day to express his appreciation to the organization that hired him in 2017 to replace Ariel Vanguardia.
“Coaching the Phoenix Fuel Masters the last 3 years has been a great honor and privilege for me, and I thank the entire management, led by Chief Dennis A. Uy, for giving me all the support during my tenure,” Alas said in the publication. .

The 56-year-old mentor led the Fuel Masters to the semifinals of the 2019 Philippine Cup. Phoenix, however, lost to eventual champions San Miguel Beermen.
Under his tutelage, Phoenix also posted a 33-33 record in the knockout round.
Phoenix announced Friday that it was letting go of the former Letran strategist. That decision was also made days after management handed Alas a 15-day suspension for 15 days for violating security protocols during the team’s training session.
Replacing Alas on an interim basis is his assistant Topex Robinson, who is also the head coach of the Lyceum Pirates in the NCAA.
“Last but not least, I want to thank the Phoenix Fuelmasters community for being so welcoming to me during my time here. I wish Coach Topex and the entire team the best in their future endeavors,” Alas said.
“I have great respect for all the players I have coached, and I also want to thank all the coaches I have worked with, who poured out their hearts and efforts to achieve the goal we envisioned,” he said.
