UAAP: Former UST Tigers coach Aldin Ayo to appeal indefinite ban

Former Santo Tomas University men’s basketball team coach Aldin Ayo is reportedly appealing his indefinite ban from UAAP in the wake of the Sorsogon training bubble controversy.

In a statement issued Friday night, the multi-title mentor said that “the indefinite ban imposed by the UAAP Board against me is not appropriate under the circumstances.”

“I will seek a reconsideration of such action,” he wrote.

Last Wednesday, the UAAP Board of Trustees made up of presidents of eight member universities ratified the Board’s decision to indefinitely ban Ayo for “endangering the health and well-being of the student athletes under his charge when he was training during a state public emergency declared by the government aimed at stopping the COVID-19 outbreak. “

The indefinite ban means that Ayo is prohibited from participating in any capacity at all UAAP events and UAAP sanctioned activities.

Ayo has already accepted responsibility for her actions by leaving her post last week.
