“This is not easy news for us to discover.”
Here’s what retired local basketball player Jimmy Alapag had to say about his wife LJ’s recent miscarriage.
It was only last month that they shared the news that they were expecting a new addition to their family.
The couple announced the unfortunate news to the public via social media.
According to them, they were supposed to listen to their baby’s heartbeat at a doctor’s appointment last week, but they couldn’t find one.
“The doctor said it could be because it is too early and it could also be due to myoma,” LJ recalled, explaining how his doctors informed him about a growth in his uterus during his first appointment.
“Although she said it was not alarming because it was growing backwards, not towards the baby. But then during the appointment last week, the other obstetrician who checked on me said that could be the reason why it wasn’t so clear. “
They came back for another date and still, there was nothing.
It was then that their doctor told them there is a possibility that LJ had a miscarriage.
LJ cited the cause as “thyroid antibodies.”
She said, “I can’t really explain what exactly that is, but I know if you’re trying to get pregnant, it’s not good to have that in your body.”
“Anyway, he injected me with progesterone and prescribed more medication and said, ‘We’ll look, we’ll try again at the next appointment.’ So when we went to the next appointment, unfortunately, we discovered na wala na talaga. “
“They called it a miscarriage because I didn’t bleed at first, but the pregnancy stopped, the baby stopped,” she added.
Despite the sad news, the couple noted that they still have absolute faith in God’s plan.
