MANILA, Philippines – The total number of new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines is now 248,947 after 3,821 infections were recorded, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday.
The health department added that it also recorded 563 new recoveries and 80 additional deaths, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 186,058, as well as 4,066 deaths.
The latest DOH data showed that of the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases, 58,823 are active cases.
DOH data also showed that Metro Manila had the most new cases with 2,079, followed by Rizal with 286, Cavite with 174, Laguna with 168 and Bulacan with 142.
Additionally, the DOH said 17 duplicates, 12 of which are recovered cases, were removed from the total case count.
There were also 36 cases that were previously recorded as recoveries, but later validated as 35 deaths and one active case.
