The number of Filipinos repatriated from Kuwait exceeds 7,000 – DFA
Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has repatriated a total of 7,116 Filipino workers abroad since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak began in March, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
In a statement, the DFA said that the latest batch to be repatriated from Kuwait consisted of 310 Filipinos. They left for Manila on September 6 on a chartered flight.
The department said the chartered flight was 15th to be organized by the embassy from June 2020.
The DFA said that the Philippine Embassy mounted these flights at low cost to the Philippine government, adding that it only paid for the tickets of returnees who had no resources due to the pandemic, through the DFA National Assistance Fund. .
The Kuwaiti government has also repatriated undocumented and distressed Filipinos, including those who participated in its amnesty program in April 2020, as part of its preventive measures against COVID-19.
A total of 2,466 Filipinos were transferred home between March 25 and June 3, 2020, at the expense of the Kuwaiti government, the DFA said.
DFA: 49 New Recoveries, No New Deaths Among Filipinos Abroad From COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines – No new deaths were reported among Filipinos abroad on Wednesday (September 9) according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

However, 15 new confirmed cases were reported in the Americas and the Middle East and Africa region, bringing the total to 10,151.
According to the DFA, a total of 3,006 Filipino COVID-19 patients abroad are currently in treatment.
The total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains 74.
In addition to monitoring cases abroad, the DFA also focuses on the repatriation of distressed Filipinos abroad who are affected by the pandemic.
