Danuel House missed Game 3 of Rockets‘Second-round series against the Lakers on Tuesday for “personal reasons” and is also listed as an out for Game 4.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon provide some clarity on House’s situation, reporting that the NBA is investigating a possible bubble protocol violation by the Rockets forward.
While no specific details are known about House’s violation, Wojnarowski and MacMahon report that the 27-year-old did not leave the NBA campus perimeter and has denied any wrongdoing. House has not been cleared to play in Game 4 and his status for the remainder of the series is up in the air, but the NBA and NBPA continue to discuss the issue, according to the ESPN duo.
Sources tell Wojnarowski and MacMahon the league is believed to be considering a 10-day quarantine for House – teammate Bruno caboclo and downtown Kings Richaun holmes He faced similar penalties in July for violations of campus protocol.
House is a key player in Houston’s rotation, averaging 11.4 PPG and 5.8 RPG with .435 / .358 / .769 shooting in the Rockets’ first nine playoff games (31.0 MPG). When he sat down on Tuesday, it resulted in a heavier workload for players like Jeff Green and Ben McLemore.
Although House’s status going forward remains unclear, the Rockets got some good news Wednesday as Robert Covington did not suffer a concussion or broken nose as a result of his Game 3 collision with Anthony Davis. Covington is expected to be ready Thursday.
