Meghan and Harry have increasingly enjoyed the freedom of the Royal Family and their pressures after Megxit. Yesterday the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that Prince Harry had reimbursed the entire £ 2.4 million spent on renovations at Frogmore Cottage, their first home as a family of three.
However, real fans believe that the pair will never be completely free from scrutiny unless they give up their royal titles for good.
Twitter user UK Royal Tea wrote on Twitter in the wake of the palace announcement: “Paying Frogmore objectively and receiving no more $ from Prince Charles will give the Sussexes the freedom to make even bigger moves with less scrutiny, but not completely. as they have still done their titles and are still taking advantage of their royal status. “
Another royal observer by the name of Billybingbing wrote: “Paying Frogmore and not using taxpayer money for security is great.
“They just need to drop the D&D of Sussex title, then they can go ahead and do whatever they want.
“Once they are completely financially independent and don’t use the royal family name to earn $$$, I don’t care what they do.”
A third Twitter user by the nickname The Royal Crown added: “Okay. If they gave up ‘Duke & Duchess’ entirely, I think there would be less scrutiny.”
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who has been a fierce critic of the pair, has already suggested on Twitter that the scrutiny will not end with the return of works made at the Windsor cabin between late 2018 and early 2019.

He wrote: “It is great news that Harry and Meghan have reimbursed the costs of Frogmore Cottage with their millions from Netflix and are no longer accepting cash from Charles.
“Now if they just renounce their commercially beneficial royal dukes and dukes titles, they can do and say whatever they want …”
Meghan and Harry retained their full titles despite leaving office as royals, but agreed to forgo wearing their HRH styles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially stopped working full-time as royals in late March, a few days after they moved to California to begin their post-royal lives.
Despite their desire to live abroad, the couple have kept Frogmore Cottage as their base in the UK.
Meghan, Harry and Archie lived in the cabin between late spring 2019 and mid-November, when they left the UK for an announced six-week break in Canada.
However, upon their return in January, the couple revealed their intention to step back as members of the greater royalty and never returned to live in their first family home.
Meghan and Harry had already expressed their desire to return the 2.4 million pounds spent on renovations to the Sovereign Grant.
Initially it was said that the couple would repay this sum in 11 years with monthly installments of 18,000 pounds sterling.
But after the couple announced they bought a £ 11.1 million mansion in Santa Barbara and had struck a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, many royal observers and commentators asked them to pay taxpayers more urgently.
A statement issued yesterday by the couple said: “The Duke of Sussex has made a contribution to the Sovereign Grant.
“This contribution, as originally offered by Prince Harry, has fully covered the necessary renovation costs for Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty The Queen, and will continue to be the residence of the Duke and his family in the United Kingdom.”
