NBA: Jordan Clarkson reacts when ESPN analyst Jalen Rose brings up ‘walis’ before Bucks-Heat game
ESPN analyst Jalen Rose is known for pulling out a Filipino broom every time there is a potential NBA playoff sweep.
On Monday morning Manila time, Rose flaunted a walis tambo during ESPN’s NBA Countdown pregame show, predicting that Fil-American coach Eric Spoelstra and the Miami Heat will close out top seed Milwaukee Bucks.
“You know how much I love Giannis and how much I want him to stay in Milwaukee, but Walis! Walis! Eric Spoelstra and the Miami Heat will do it, ”Rose said on the show.
The former member of the Michigan Wolverines’ famous “Fab Five” was referring to the frenzy surrounding Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s free agency in 2021.
Rose also yelled “walis” twice during Game 4 halftime, prompting Jordan Clarkson to react on social media.
“I hear you @ JalenRose…. WALIS! hahahaha it’s so funny my grandmother used to say that, ”Clarkson tweeted. Rose later responded with three Philippine flag emojis.

Also reacted was ESPN personality Pablo Torre, who is of Filipino descent.
“Let the record show that @JalenRose is an honorary member of ESPN’s Philippine Cultural Society. May your hair reign for a long time, “Torre tweeted.
Spoelstra and the Heat failed to secure the spot as the Bucks overcame Antetokounmpo’s loss due to an ankle injury to win 118-115 in overtime, extending their Eastern Conference semifinal series to a fifth game scheduled on Thursday. Wednesday in Manila.

Pulling out a tambo or jingling version of the Filipino broom has been Rose’s habit during the NBA postseason as she said “hello to my Filipino friends and family.”
