MANILA– Sixteen-year-old Chloe Chambers just set a Guinness World Record for Fastest Vehicle Slalom in a completely original 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder.

Chambers, a seven-year karting veteran, ran the 47.45-second race in a field with 51 equally-spaced cones at 50-foot intervals arranged on a runway. The timing was done by Racelogic and the event supervised by a Guinness World Records judge.

“It sounds easy, but it really isn’t. Weave between 50 cones as fast as possible, trying to beat a record time and knowing that I can’t touch just one to make the race count. I definitely felt the pressure. It all came together in my last race; the car worked perfectly and I found the grip I needed. Thanks to my family and Porsche for supporting me and believing in me, ”Chambers said.

The previous record was set in China in 2018.

Developed by the Porsche Motorsport department, the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder represents the most powerful and attractive variant of the 718 line created so far. It uses a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that sends up to 414 hp at 8,000 rpm through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels.

It uses a track-built Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) setup with adaptive dampers, auxiliary springs on the rear axle, and a ride height that’s 1.18 inches (30mm) lower than a standard 718 Boxster or Cayman.

“We couldn’t be more proud that Chloe set the record. On behalf of the entire Porsche family, we send our sincerest congratulations; We are delighted to have been able to support Chloe with her ambitious record attempt and share her relief at the success, ”said Porsche Cars North America President and CEO Klaus Zellmer.
