Bus driver crashes in Makati to face raps for drug use

MANILA, Philippines – The bus driver, who was behind the car accident in Makati City that left 13 people injured, will face charges of drug use, police said Saturday.

Makati Police Chief Colonel Oscar Jacildo confirmed this in a text message, saying that suspect Marlon Yandug Nacaytona tested positive for the use of shabu or crystalline methamphetamine after taking a drug test.

According to a police report, Nacaytona was driving a Pitbull bus when he ran over 11 motorcycles, a car and another bus along the Osmeña Highway in the city of Makati on Friday at 9 a.m. Police said the faulty bus brakes allegedly malfunctioned.

Nacaytona will face charges for violating the Drunk and Drunk Driving Act of 2013, Jacildo said.

Show order of cause

Aside from the cases, Nacayton and his manager at the Pitbull Bus firm are held accountable for his reckless driving offense and inappropriate person to operate a motor vehicle under the Traffic and Ground Transportation Code due to the Makati accident.

In a statement from the Department of Transportation on Friday, the Bureau of Ground Transportation issued a show of cause order against the defendants, ordering them to report to the LTO’s Law Enforcement Service office on East Avenue, Quezon City on September 9 at 2 pm.

Failure to show up to the LTO office will result in suspension or revocation of Nacayton’s driver’s license, as well as the imposition of penalties against the Pitbull Bus operator.

The transportation agency said the driver will also face a preventive suspension.

DOTr added that it would not tolerate illegal acts by motorists that could pose a danger to the lives of other motorists.

“May this serve as a warning to all of our trucking partners that DOTr, the Trucking Franchise and Regulatory Board, and the LTO will not tolerate this reckless and irresponsible way of driving that is life-threatening and injurious. to property, “the statement reads.

“We will ensure that the full force of the law is applied to these misguided drivers and operators,” he added.
