The UAAP (BMD) Board of Directors said late Thursday that it has decided its recommendations regarding the UST Growling Tigers case and the controversial Sorsogon bubble, but will not release details for now.
The decision was made after lengthy deliberation by the BMD, which addressed the matter for nearly four hours.
Recommendations from the meeting will go up to the league’s Board of Trustees (BOT), which is comprised of the administrative directors from the eight member schools.
“The discussion covered compliance with the guidelines and protocols issued by the government on conducting school and sports activities during community quarantine,” the statement read.
“After a long discussion, the UAAP BMD drew up its recommendations, which will be sent to the UAAP Board of Directors for review and approval,” he added.
However, the details were withheld by the league out of respect for the Pontifical University.
“Out of respect for the member school in question and the BOT decision-making process, the BMD’s recommendations cannot be made public at this time,” the league explained.
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the BMD recommended punishing Ayo and taking the case to the BOT for further examination.
It was reported that Ayo, who is in her second year, was responsible for organizing the bubble in the city of Capuy. A misunderstanding between him and former team captain CJ Cansino led to the latter’s harsh departure from the team, which in turn left the issue open.
Since then, Cansino has joined UP Fighting Maroons. Other players who have left were Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraíso, Ira Bataller and Jun Asunción.
