MANILA, Philippines – The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the House of Representatives is now 62 after two more employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
The chamber’s secretary general, José Luis Montales, said Thursday that the two new cases are from the chamber’s engineering department and are close contacts of a confirmed case that is also from the same department.
They went to work for the last time on August 24 and 25.
Currently, 15 confirmed cases are considered active in the Chamber.
“Contact tracing is ongoing,” Montales said.
As of September 2, confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines amount to 226,440 with 158,610 recoveries and 3,623 deaths.
