Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray set a new scoring record in NBA history, combining 475 points in the playoff series between the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz, which ended Tuesday with Denver advancing to the Western Conference semifinals for face LA Clippers.
Mitchell added 22 points for the Jazz, while Murray registered 17 points for the Nuggets in Game 7.
Murray and Mitchell broke Jerry West and John Havlicek in the 1969 Finals. The two Hall of Famers combined for 463 points in that series, 12 fewer than Murray and Mitchell.
The most recent duo to come close to the numbers the two stars put on the NBA bubble were Allen Iverson and Vince Carter, who combined 449 points in the 2001 conference semifinals (according to HoopsHype).
After the end of the game, a heartbroken Mitchell lay on the ground, as Murray rushed to comfort him, a great gesture of true sportsmanship, leaving his own mark as well as his all-time record.
