LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida – Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris was sent off after a tough foul against the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic in the first quarter of Game 6 of their NBA playoff game on Sunday (Monday, Manila time).
Doncic was trying to get to the basket against Morris and had bitten past it when his arms began to tangle. Morris swung his arm down hard, seeming to hit Doncic in the head or neck area and knock him onto the court.
The Mavericks coaches ran quickly to the court after watching the play, which happened right in front of their bench. Doncic got up and tried to charge Morris, but was stopped by his teammate Boban Marjanovic.
“Terrible foul,” Doncic said of the karate punch later.
The referees reviewed the play and determined that it was a flagrant foul 2, which resulted in an automatic expulsion.

The Clippers, led by Kawhi Leonard’s 33 points and 14 rebounds, eliminated the Mavericks, 111-97, to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.
Doncic capped off a magnificent first postseason with 38 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, keeping him interesting in the fourth quarter even without playing without injured teammate Kristaps Porzingis.
He was still furious about Morris’s foul after the game.
Earlier in the series, Morris denied trying to hurt Doncic, who has struggled with a sprained left ankle, when he stepped on his foot.

“Two games in a row he did something like that. I really hoped the first one wasn’t on purpose, but looking back at the lack of this game, you know what I think,” Doncic said. “I don’t want to deal with that type of player.”
