MANILA, Philippines – As the nation celebrates National Heroes Day on Monday, Vice President Leni Robredo urged Filipinos to “fight and” not shy away from struggle or sacrifice “and paid tribute to the country’s heroes, including leaders against the coronavirus pandemic currently affecting the nation.
“Today we honor the many heroes who fought, fought and sacrificed for our nation; who spoke truth to power and faced death or persecution; who showed courage and, in doing so, helped shape our destiny as a people, “said Robredo in his message.
“Love those who are beyond your immediate circle; expand these circles to go beyond family or friends; take care of the community, take care of the country. Do this, despite the fear and uncertainty. Fight, if necessary; do not be cowed by the fight or the sacrifice. Be kind and brave, ”he added.
In his message, he made mention of medical professionals, community leaders, government workers and uniformed services, volunteers.
May the courage of our heroes continue to inspire us as we face difficult times once again. A relevant and thoughtful National Heroes Day for all, ”said the Vice President.
