RUMOR: University of Santo Tomás rising star Rhenz Abando will leave the Tigres for the Letran Knights in the NCAA.

ACTS: If the news on the vine is to be believed, CJ Cansino might not be the last player to leave Spain in the wake of controversial bubble training at Sorsogon.

Various sources counted SPIN.ph that Abando could possibly be the next to part ways with the Growling Tigers, leaving UST for Letran.

Talks about a move from Abando to Letran first emerged a day after coach Aldin Ayo expelled former UST team captain CJ Cansino from the team, reportedly due to “differences” that worsened during Bicol’s training.

But sources said informal conversations between the Letran team officials and the people representing Abando have gained ground in recent days, especially with the future of UST unclear in the face of an investigation into a bubble training that violated the health protocols during the pandemic.

Abando, along with the rest of the Growling Tigers, are on their way back to Manila from Bicol on Saturday as the school awaits the UAAP’s verdict after receiving a copy of UST’s internal investigation findings on the matter.
