A week after team captain CJ Cansino joined UP Fighting Maroons, Santo Tomas University lost another player after guard Brent Paraíso confirmed that he had dropped out of school.
Paraíso reportedly left UST days after returning from Sorsogon, participating in the alleged “bubble” training camp in the town of Capuy. She tweeted confirmation of the move on Saturday afternoon.
“It is sad but necessary. I love you very much UST (It is very sad but necessary. I love you very much UST),” the tweet said. A source had previously confirmed the development to ESPN5.

The guard was an integral cog in the Growling Tigers’ run to the finals, averaging 7.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, spread over 19 games.
Paraíso spent two years with Aldin Ayo and the De La Salle Green Archers, and was part of the UAAP Season 79 championship team led by Jeron Teng and Ben Mbala.
His future in college basketball is at stake as he will not be able to play anymore if he transfers to a UAAP school. However, he may be a year older if he jumps to the NCAA.
Randolph Leongson of Spin.ph was the first to report the story.
