MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III paid his last respects to former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim on Saturday before his appointment.
The convoy with Lim’s remains passed through the Senate in the city of Pasay, where Sotto and Senate Sergeant at Arms Edgardo Rene Samonte met with the hearse and said goodbye to the late mayor.
Lim served as a senator in the XIII Congress from 2004 to 2007.
Lim also served as mayor of Manila from 1992 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2013.
Apart from his tenure as Senator and Mayor of Manila, Lim also served as Chief of the Western Police District (Manila Police), director of the National Bureau of Investigation from 1989 to 1992, then as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Government. Local from 1998 to 2001.
Lim, who was also known for his “Dirty Harry” image, died on August 8 from COVID-19. He was 90 years old.
