Calabarzon PNP chief denies he is ready to take over NCRPO from Sinas

MANILA, Philippines – The head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Calabarzon region on Friday dismissed social media posts saying he was taking over from police commander Commander Debold Sinas as head of the Office of Police of the Region of the National Police.

In a statement, Police Brig. General Vicente Danao Jr. called on the public to stop spreading false information that he says will cause public confusion and sow cracks among PNP officers.

Danao issued the denial in response to posts on social media, allegedly by a news team, that he has been promoted as the next head of the NCRPO.

The publications appeared online the same day that the PNP Internal Affairs Service filed criminal and administrative charges against Sinas and 18 other PNP officers and staff for violations of the prevailing restrictions due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Sinas and police officers face charges of violating quarantine protocols during their birthday party held inside NCRPO headquarters in Taguig city. Photos from Sinas’s birthday party, which drew 50 guests, were posted on the official NCRPO website, but were later withdrawn after receiving a public reaction.

By discrediting the allegedly false posts, Danao, a former police chief from the Manila Police District, assured Calabarzon police personnel that he will remain at his post.

“Rest assured that during these difficult times, we will work as one to better serve the communities in the region,” he said.
