MANILA, Philippines – Quezon province residents were advised to prepare for destructive flooding in flood-prone areas when the state meteorological agency issued a red rain warning over the area due to rains generated by severe tropical storm Ambo (international name: Vongfong).
Meanwhile, a yellow rain warning was issued in Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan and Batangas, according to a notice issued by the Philippine Administration of Geophysical and Astronomical Atmospheric Services (Pagasa).
A red rain warning, as defined by state meteorologists, is generally when 30 millimeters of rain accumulates in an hour and is expected to continue for the next two hours.
Meanwhile, a yellow rain warning means heavy rains of between 7.5 and 15 millimeters are observed in one hour and are expected to persist for the next two hours.
Previously, Pagasa said that Both weakened in a severe tropical storm as it moves into the Quezon-Laguna area.
Twenty-seven areas are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 due to Ambo.
