Typhoon Ambo weakens in severe tropical storm

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Ambo (international name: Vongfong) has weakened in a severe tropical storm as it continues to advance toward the Quezon-Laguna area, the state meteorological agency said.

At its 2 p.m. meteorological bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the center of the typhoon was last seen in the vicinity of Andangan, Quezon.

The severe tropical storm also accumulated sustained maximum winds of 110 km / h (kph) near the center and a gust of up to 150 kph.

Both were also seen moving northwest at 20 km / h.
